It was pumpkin mania in Division 9 this past week. We integrated pumpkins into many curricular areas. We estimated the circumference of our class pumpkin then graphed the results. We spent a wet Wednesday at the Aldor Acres pumpkin patch. In spite of the weather, children and adults had a great time. Children came back and wrote about their experience at the farm. They closely examined their pumpkin and sketched a picture with their pumpkin's unique characteristics. We compared the needs of pumpkins with our own and discovered shared needs as well as how our needs exceed those of a pumpkin. When children take their pumpkins home don't be surprised if they want to take a bath with it to watch their pumpkin float. Enjoy your weekend.
